Snow and Ice

When we completed our unit on snow and ice, we did a few experiments to see what how to melt ice the quickest and which would leave the most water, ice or snow.  We also monitored the temperature of the snow and ice as they melted.

Experiment 1: To see what type of material would melt the quickest, we put an ice cube in a plastic bowl, metal pot, glass bowl, and paper plate.  Take a look at the pictures to see what the results were.

Experiment 2: The students had to pass an ice cube in their group and be creative as they tried to get it to melt the quickest.  They have many great ideas!

Experiment 3: Will melted ice cubes or snow produce more water?
